“This piece reflects my love and reverence of trees - their graceful, columnar, beckoning, magical qualities. They have so much character and gesture. When I look up at the canopy of trees in the sunlight, the leaves look dark and lacy - a silhouette of beautiful shapes where the light comes through. I like to look at the delicate patterns created. I wanted to create a two - dimensional tree silhouette, but one that was animated and alive with images of birds, leaves, pomegranates - symbols of life and light. This pierced - metal tree can be used as an architectural element in the Nativity or with The Christmas Story. I hope it adds an interesting detailed pattern to the scene." - Susan Lordi
